Pirates Nights in Omiš, Croatia

Pirates Nights are another attraction that is worth seeing if you are in Omiš in the middle of August. This is a manifestation of reconstruction of the battle between local and Venetians that took place in the 13th century.



It involves hundreds of participants dressed as pirates and Venetians in the galleys and Sagitta (high speed pirate boats). Last year, about 10 000 local and foreign visitors of this groundbreaking event once again witnessed how Omiš's ruler Malduk won the battle against the Venetians, led by the Commander Akoncije.
